The
Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is actually the
Canadian National Police Service and is the main law-enforcement
agency in the country. This is probably so because the
RCMP is more famed for conjuring up romantic /images
of police personnel across the Commonwealth, having
been immortalised in Hollywood movies. The saying that
the Mounties "always get their man" is usually
considered to be the creation of Hollywood. The 1920s,
1930s and 1940s, were the golden years when Hollywood
produced several movies featuring fictional Mounties.

Vanuatu
The
entire 300-men-strong police force of the island nation, Vanuatu
in South Pacific was once arrested after kidnapping a visiting
politician from Australia and attempting to use the hostage
as leverage in a dispute with the government concerning overtime
pay. The government refused to meet their demand.
Sri
Lanka
The
Police Mounted Division of Sri Lanka is famous for its
hospitality across the Commonwealth. In recent times
it has proved to be the favourite division of the police
in Sri Lanka for locals as well as foreigners, in assisting
them to find locations and navigation routes besides
supervising safety and security of the locals.
